Molly’s Story – a Reading Force to be reckoned with

Recently, we had the privilege of working with Reading Force, a brilliant charity that supports children in service families by keeping them connected with a parent who’s away on deployment. The idea is simple but incredibly powerful — using books, shared reading, and storytelling to maintain that all-important bond, even when one parent is serving at sea or overseas. It’s one of those things that sounds small on paper, but when you see it in real life, you realise just how much it means.

For this project, we packed up the kit and made our way down to the coast, before jumping on a ferry over to Jersey. Not a bad commute for a shoot, to be fair. The reason for the trip was to meet Mollie, a young girl who has been supported by Reading Force while her father has been deployed at sea with the Royal Navy.

From a videography point of view, this was all about capturing something genuine. No heavy direction, no overproduction — just letting moments happen naturally and being ready to catch them. The connection, the resilience, the little everyday moments… that’s where the real story lives.

As a veteran-owned business, projects like this hit a bit closer to home for us. Having that shared understanding of service life — the time away, the impact on families, the quiet strength it takes — means we approach these stories with a different level of care. It’s not just another job. It’s something we genuinely care about getting right.

This project is a great example of how videography can do more than just “look good.” It can tell a story that actually connects with people. For charities especially, that’s everything. It helps raise awareness, builds trust, and ultimately supports the incredible work they’re doing behind the scenes.

And if you’re a business, organisation, or charity looking for videographers or photographers in Somerset, the South-West, or anywhere across the UK, this is exactly the kind of work we love to be part of. Whether it’s capturing real stories, building a content library, or producing something that genuinely resonates with your audience — that’s where we come in.

This one wasn’t about flashy shots or big production setups. It was about people, connection, and telling a story that matters.
And those are always the best ones.

Let’s get to work

Tell us what you need filming.

Brand film, social content, an event, a drone shot you can’t get any other way — give us the brief and we’ll tell you straight how we’d shoot it and what it costs. We’re a small, experienced crew, not the cheapest option in the county, and the work shows it.
