The Canal Inn wanted photography and short-form video that would show this off, bring in more bookings and give their social media a clear direction.

At GD Media, we believe wedding photography and videography is about more than just capturing images. It’s about telling a story, helping couples feel comfortable, and making sure the process feels as smooth and enjoyable as the day itself. Recently, we had the joy of working with Liz and Louie at the stunning Old Oak Barn wedding venue in Somerset.
This case study breaks down how we approached their big day, from planning to delivery, and shares practical takeaways for couples thinking about booking a wedding photographer and videographer in Somerset and the South West.
We started by meeting with Liz and Louie to understand their vision. Some couples want formal, posed shots, while others prefer a more natural, documentary style. Liz and Louie wanted a mix—capturing the little details, the big moments, and everything in between.
To make the planning simple, we use what we call the 3C Framework:
This framework ensures no surprises on the day, and couples know exactly what to expect.
Spend time talking through your priorities with your photographer/videographer. It helps everyone relax and makes sure nothing important is missed.
Old Oak Barn is a beautiful venue, with rustic charm and plenty of natural light. Our goal was to let the surroundings shine while keeping the focus on Liz and Louie. We split the day into three parts:
We worked as both wedding photographers and videographers, making sure we stayed unobtrusive while still getting the angles and details that matter.
Ask your creative team how they balance being present without being distracting. It makes a huge difference to how comfortable you’ll feel.
After the wedding, we edited the photos and video into a package that told Liz and Louie’s story. Instead of just handing over files, we created a narrative: the build-up, the vows, the laughter, the joy.
Our approach is always about balance—mixing cinematic highlights with the little candid details that bring a wedding day back to life every time you look at them.
Look for a team that offers both photography and videography. It creates a seamless story rather than two disconnected sets of memories.
For Liz and Louie, the result was a collection of memories that felt natural, personal, and true to their day. For us, it was a reminder that weddings aren’t just about logistics—they’re about people, emotions, and moments you’ll want to relive forever.
If you’re searching for wedding videographers, photographers, or content creators in Somerset, Devon, Cornwall, or the South West UK, our team would love to help capture your story.

Brand film, social content, an event, a drone shot you can’t get any other way — give us the brief and we’ll tell you straight how we’d shoot it and what it costs. We’re a small, experienced crew, not the cheapest option in the county, and the work shows it.
